Jobs in Indian Railways: There are around 2.63 lakh vacancies in various segments of the Indian Railways. The Railway Minister himself revealed this information. In a written reply to a question asked in the Lok Sabha, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that approximately 2,63,913 positions are currently vacant in the railways. These positions are periodically filled through recruitment efforts, which continue to be ongoing.
Over 2.5 lakh posts remain vacant in the railways
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw disclosed in the Lok Sabha that as of July 1, 2023, there were 2,680 vacancies for gazetted posts and 2,61,233 vacancies for non-gazetted posts in the railways. Recently, about 2.37 crore candidates have been recruited through computer-based tests for approximately 1,39,050 positions. Additionally, on April 1, 2023, 1,36,773 candidates were recruited for Group C, out of which 1,11,728 were for security posts.
Recruitment for vacant positions is an ongoing process in the railways
The Railway Minister mentioned that filling vacant posts in the Indian Railways is an ongoing process. The recruitment of these positions depends on factors like post size and various other reasons. The railways consistently conduct recruitment drives to fill these vacant positions based on their operational requirements.
Focus on passenger safety by the Railways
The Railway Minister highlighted that the railways take all necessary steps to ensure passenger safety. CCTV surveillance is implemented at 866 railway stations across the country, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is deployed around the borders to maintain the security of stations and passengers, ensuring there are no compromises in safety.
